Nerds run the world
The future won't program itself. Study Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
Find your degreeThis is what it's really like – your tech degree beyond the clichés.
Forget the old prejudices about dry theory. In computer science and electrical engineering programs at TH OWL, you work on the future and make the world smarter – for everyone!
How many people imagine a tech degree
Studying computer science and automation means
This is your campus – a playground for nerds.
Where others merely learn, you bring ideas to life. Whether smart energy solutions or connected technologies, Innovation Campus Lemgo offers you a unique infrastructure for your projects.
At Innovation Campus Lemgo, institutes such as Fraunhofer IOSB-INA, inIT, iFE, SmartFactoryOWL, and companies at CIIT work on topics like artificial intelligence, Industry 4.0, the energy transition, and intelligent automation. For you, this means access to current research, hands-on projects, and a network that supports you well beyond your studies.
Not just because of the historic old town!
The Old Hanseatic Town has so much more to offer. The unique combination of town, campus, and innovation in the middle of one of Germany's strongest business and start-up regions makes this place to study far more than you'd expect. You'll also find one of the most interesting tech locations in automation here. And all of it is close by.
Nature and Culture
Nature, the water, up to the Hermann Monument, or the museum – none of it is far. Whether by bike, on foot, or by bus, you can quickly leave the screen behind whenever you feel like it.

Innovation and Business in One Place
With research facilities, institutes, companies, and start-ups directly linked on campus, you have attractive opportunities – for dual degree programs, practical semesters, part-time jobs, or starting your career.
Lemgo Comes Alive
The town may be small, but there's always something going on. The famous (and infamous) Kläschenmarkt, "Lemgo macht ein Faß auf," Sommerbühne, wine festival… the list is practically endless. There's always a reason to be out with good friends.

Your degree is already waiting for you.

I'm not a math genius, and I've never programmed before.
Don’t worry: You don’t need to be a math genius or a programming pro to start with us. Curiosity, technical interest, and a desire to understand problems and develop solutions matter far more. You’ll learn and deepen the fundamentals of math and programming step by step during your studies – prior knowledge helps, but isn’t required.
Can I study in a dual degree program?
Yes – dual study is firmly established in the degree programs of the Department of Computer Science & Automation. What makes the Lemgo model special: theory and practice don’t alternate only after several months. You study at TH OWL during the week and spend one day per week, as well as the lecture-free periods, at your company or institution. This lets you apply what you’ve learned directly in practice. TH OWL works closely with numerous companies from the strong industrial region of OWL – including many world market leaders.
Is the degree hard?
Are technical degrees only for geniuses? That cliché is stubborn. Sure, the program is demanding – but what matters isn’t that everything comes to you instantly. Interest, perseverance, and a willingness to dig into new topics matter far more. You learn the fundamentals step by step, and when you get stuck, you’re not alone.
Do I have to choose my specialisation straight away?
No! You don’t have to commit to a particular direction before starting your studies. First, you’ll learn the fundamentals and get a feel for which topics you particularly enjoy. You’ll only choose your specialisation later in your degree – when you can much better assess where you want to develop.
Can I pursue a Master's degree?
A Bachelor’s degree is not the end: at our department, you can proceed directly to the *Master’s in Electrical Engineering* or the English-language *Master’s in Information Technology* and systematically deepen your knowledge. This allows you to further specialise professionally and prepare for demanding tasks in development, research, and industry. And after your Master’s, you can also pursue a doctorate and earn your ‘Dr.’ title with us.
